American Idol: Kris Allen Skips 'Tonight Show' Gig After Family Death
If you're expecting to see Kris Allen on tomorrow night's The Tonight Show, well, expect someone else: he won't be showing up.  The American Idol winner has cancelled his appearance on Conan O'Brien's late night show because of the death of his maternal grandmother.

"I know I was supposed to do Conan on Wednesday, but there was a death in my family," he told fans through his Twitter page.  "But everyone watch [Allison Iraheta].  She is filling in.  And by filling in, I mean [she] is gonna rock Conan's face off."

So yes, that someone else is Idol fourth-placer Allison, who'll be pitching in at the very last minutes by performing Heart's "Barracuda"--already a familiar tune to those who have seen her at the ongoing American Idol summer tour.

Despite the events, Kris' representatives told Access Hollywood that he won't be missing any tour dates, so fans should breathe easier now.  He'll make it just in time for their Los Angeles concert at the Staples Center on Thursday, July 16.  Obviously, the same goes for Allison.  Thankfully Conan now does his show from Los Angeles, else it would've been a slightly hellish coast-to-coast trip... but I digress.
