The
Kelly Clarkson camp announced the release date for her upcoming album titled "All I Ever Wanted." If that's not exciting enough, a clip of her newest single was released on AOL Music, which you can check out below.
"All I Ever Wanted" comes after the relative disaster of Kelly's creative project called "My December." Although, I love the album, the negative press surrounding it didn't do much to help Kelly's career. She's back letting the hit makers producer her songs as Max Martin and Dr. Luke team up for her upcoming single, "My Life Would Suck Without You." Although I'm not a fan of the title, it's a catchy tune and Kelly's vocals are back in action. She's been dearly miss on the radio waves.
What do you think? Kelly wrote her own music in "My December" and went under a lot of fire for it. Clive Davis, the head of Sony-BMG at the time, told her to remove a couple of her songs. He reportedly offered to pay her to change the album. But Kelly wanted creative freedom and integrity for this one.
Simon Cowell told Entertainment Weekly:
"Kelly is not a puppet; she does not like to be told what to do. She could have gone the easy route, which is, you go with ["Since U Been Gone" producer] Max Martin — it's a guaranteed success. She made it absolutely clear that she wanted to steer the musical direction on this record. You just gotta say, 'You know what? This girl has given us millions and millions of sales.' You've got to give her that opportunity. If it works out, fantastic. If she then decides she wants to do a pop album, every good writer and producer wants to work with her. Because Kelly will be here for 30 years. She has one of the best pop voices in the world right now. What she sold in the UK, Europe, Asia had nothing to do with
American Idol. It had everything to do with the fact that she made a great record and she's got an incredible voice. She's not a girl who got lucky in a talent competition; we got lucky to find her."
Although it didn't work out monetarily, Kelly got to do what she wanted to do. Sometimes I think a lot of the bad reviews came from Clarkson moving from the uber pop "Breakaway" to the rock-style of "My December." Now that she's back to her pop ways, will she make it back on top?
