BuddyTV's John Kubicek and Oscar Dahl discuss last night's American Idol performance episode and predict who will advance to the Top 12.
While American Idol's 8
second performance episode wasn't stellar by any means, it was far and away an improvement over the first one, and featured a handful of solid performances that were surrounded by inoffensive mediocrity. Not high praise, but at least American Idol
is on an upward swing. John Kubicek and I, Oscar Dahl, had a somewhat contentious debate this morning in the second John vs. Oscar podcast of the season. Our favorites differed greatly, but if there's one thing we agree on it's that Norman Gentle is a national treasure. He won't be making the Top 12, not in a million years, but he sure puts on a hell of a show, and I believe this season is better off for his presence, regardless of what the curmudgeonly Simon Cowell
might say. Take a listen to the podcast below - if you enjoy American Idol
, I suspect you'll enjoy what we had to say.
Below you will find the full mp3 audio of the podcast.

Despite our disagreements in the quality of the performances, John and I both predicted the same three singers to advance to the Top 12.
John and Oscar's Picks:
While it's not a lot of fun to have the same predictions, it does mean that I will keep my lead on John for the season. As it stands right now, I have a 2-1 lead. I aim to keep that lead all season. We checked DialIdol, which is usually a pretty good indicator of who will advance, and there is a clear cut top 2, with Allison and Adam garnering far more votes than anyone else. After that, it's a quagmire, that third spot completely up in the air.
Tune in tonight here on BuddyTV for my live blog of the Results Show, especially you west coast viewers who can't wait until Pacific Time for the Idol results. While Adam and Allison seem like slam dunks, there is serious potential for a big surprise in that third spot, with Megan, Matt Giraud, Jesse Langseth and even Matt Breitzke in contention. Personally, I'm hoping that Corkrey gets that spot, though even if she doesn't, she's probably assured a spot in the Wild Card round.
Also, for a little extra fun, check out the Performance Rankings slideshow. We unleashed a new feature last night, where you can rearrange the slideshows and create your very own performance rankings. Give it a looksie.
