American Idol 8: First Season 8 Spoilers!
It's that time of the year again.  I guess.  I didn't think it was that time of the year, not now, not yet, but there I was, perusing the internet tube machine, and I stumble across American Idol Season 8 Rumors!  Yes, rumors.  Spoilers.  For American Idol!  The New York Post today released some names of supposed Hollywood finalists for Season 8 of American Idol.  These are singers who have, according to the Post, have reached the advanced Hollywood stages of American Idol, the first week of which has just wrapped up filming.  This, all according to the New York Post, so it should be taken with a giant spoonful of salt.   However, the list of names, which you can read below, contain some intriguing people, including a nephew of a famed singing duo, a sibling of a former Idol finalist and someone who is tangentially connected to Utahan boy wonder David Archuleta.

List of Hollywood Finalist for American Idol Season 8, according to the New York Post:

David Osmond – Yes, one of those Osmonds.  David is the nephew of Donnie and Marie, and the son of Mr. Alan Osmond, who was apparently one of the original Osmond family singers.  Also, David once caught the West Nile Virus (!) and as a result suffers from some form of muscular dystrophy.  American Idol continues to be a destination for Mormon singers.

Michael Castro – Yes, one of those Castros.  Michael is the younger brother of Jason Castro, everyone's favorite Idol dread-locked (likely) pothead.  I remember Michael being mentioned by Jason last year, but I don't remember how.  Can anyone clue us in?

Annie Kaelin – She is the daughter of David Archuleta's vocal coach.  Expect a lot of unnecessary vocal runs from Annie.

Danielle Roundtree – Miss New York 2008, jazz singer.

Jackie Tohn – She is an actress from New York who as appeared on such shows as The Sopranos, Veronica Mars, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Closer

Season 8 of American Idol premieres on Tuesday, January 13 with a two-night, four-hour extravaganza.
