American Idol 7: Top 7 Live Results
American Idol 7 has had many an exciting results show.  Will tonight be another one?  Since the Top 12 began this season on American Idol, every eliminated contestant had previously never been in the bottom three.  For that to happen again, either David Cook or David Archuleta would have to be eliminated.  However, it seems that almost every American Idol fan believes that the Davids are destined for big things and have no chance at being eliminated tonight.  That's probably true, so who will it be?  The contenders appear to be Syesha Mercado, Carly Smithson and Kristy Lee Cook.  Personally, I think that it will be Carly going home.  I'll be here throughout the episode, giving live updates as the results come in. Feel free to comment below and don't forget to hit refresh.

Let's get this rolling.  Seacrest Seacrest's the Seacrest out of the introduction and the show begins.

36 million votes last night.  That's a big number.  Mariah Carey and Elliot Yamin are in the house tonight.  Ryan will take phone calls from America.  Yippee!

The Top 7 sings "One Sweet Day," that Mariah/Boyz II Men duet from yesteryear.  I've got a soft spot for Boyz II Men, but this is hopelessly corny.  Screams emanate when Archuleta takes the stage.  Interestingly, this is the second group song in two weeks to be quite religious.  I don't know what this means.

We see the long recap of last night's performances.  Simon's smackdown of Carly was brutal.  And, I love Brooke, but I wish she would talk less during the judges' comments.

Let's get to some results.

Jason Castro takes the stage.  He has been placed in purgatory by Searest, ushered to one side of the stage.

David Cook enters to audience screams (that may have been a first).  David is placed in a different purgatory, to Seacrest's right (Castro is on the left).

Carly Smithson is brought to endure Seacrest's wrath.  She says that Simon has been hard on her this season.  She joins Jason to Ryan's left.  Umm, that's obviously the bottom three side.  Right?

Kristy Lee Cook is up next.  She's kind of arrogant. She joins David Cook on the right side of the stage.

Then we got to a commercial, with nothing resolved.

I'm going to continue my self-imposed embargo over commenting on the Ford commercials.

Break from the results.  Elliott Yamin takes the stage and sings "Free."  The man is a great singer.  Not a great song, but the dude has pipes.  Yikes, his mom died this week (I think that's what they said).

More results.

Syesha Mercado is next - her hair is obscene tonight.  She joins Jason and Carly.  That is for sure the bottom three.

Brooke White enters the stage.  At least she is safe.  She joins David and Kristy.

More commercials, while Archuleta remains back stage.

Questions from America.  Indifference overwhelms me.  David Cook is single.  Line up, ladies.

Time for Mariah Carey's performance.  She's singing "Bye Bye."  She's dropping some nice cleavage on America tonight.  Pretty mediocre song, but she can still sing.  ANother commercial break, and then some more results.  But, we already know who's in the bottom three.  It's Syesha, Jason and Carly.  Unless American went insane yesterday.

David Archuleta is summoned to center stage.  Girls keep screaming.  David is safe, but to which side of the will he be steered?

David Cook swaps sides with Syesha.  Whoa.  Seacrest tells Archuleta to join which side of the stage he thinks is safe.  David sits down in the middle of the stage.

Syesha, Brooke, and Kristy Lee are your bottom three.  Wow, Carly is safe.  Madness!

Final results time, yo.

Syesha is immediately sent to safety.

Kristy Lee Cook has been eliminated from American Idol.
