It's been reported for months that the reboot of American Idol
will premiere in March after the Oscars. And now ABC has made it official!
Season 16 of the singing competition show will premiere on Sunday, March 11 at 8/7c. The premiere, along with every subsequent episode, will be two hours long. It's unclear at this time how ABC will schedule the results shows once Idol goes live later in the season.
This premiere is one week after the Oscars air on Sunday, March 4. ABC will no doubt heavily promote Idol's return during the awards show.
During the announcement, Ryan joked, "All I have to say is considering I work in New York Monday through Friday, thank god it's on Sunday night in Los Angeles."
