Agent Stan Smith and his obscure family return for another season.  Earlier this month, FOX has renewed the satirical animated series American Dad, extending the order through to the 2008-2009 season and bringing the show’s overall episode count to 84.

In line with the extended order of American Dad, executive producers Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz have also inked a two-year overall deal with the show’s producer, 20th Century Fox TV Studio.  The contract, which has an option for a third year, is reportedly under a seven-figure agreement.  Consequently, Wiener and Schwartz will continue working on American Dad as producers, alongside fellow co-creators Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman.

Wiener and Schwartz, who previously co-created the comedy series Two Guys and a Girl, will also develop new projects for 20th TV, a television distribution company formed by 20th Century Fox.

"It is incredibly satisfying for them to return to the fold not only to work on a key show for us but also to get a chance to develop," 20th TV president Gary Newman said.  "They really impressed us all with their work on American Dad and we decided that we wanted to make a deal with them."

"We love the people on American Dad we love the show and we love the studio, so it was a logical place for us to stay," Schwartz said.

"We come from a multi-camera background, and we'd love to do another multi-camera comedy," Wiener added.  "There is nothing like shooting a comedy in front of a live audience."

American Dad follows the misadventures of a CIA agent with a dysfunctional family consisting of a highly impressionable son, an ultra-liberal daughter and stereotypical trophy housewife, as well as a flamboyant martini-swilling alien and a German-speaking goldfish.
