ABC is continuing to release trailers for new shows appearing on the 2014-2015 schedule. They've already released videos for dramas and comedies airing in the fall, and now comes some of the mid-season dramas.

The network is holding most of its new dramas for mid-season, including the delayed The Astronaut Wives Club, which was originally supposed to air this summer, and the second Marvel TV show, Agent Carter, which will bridge the hiatus gap between Agents of SHIELD's fall and spring runs next season. Trailers have been released for three of them: American Crime, Secrets and Lies and The Whispers, which you can watch below:

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

American Crime

Premise: American Crime centers on a racially-charged trial following an attack on a young couple in their Modesto, CA, home. This case reverberates strongly through everyone in the community and brings out heightened tension and drama. Desperate Housewives alum Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton star.

Prognosis: The concept for this drama seems perfect for a timeslot on cable television. But as this is network TV, let's hope nothing is diluted -- and if the trailer is any indication, it doesn't seem like it will. The topic of race in America is one fraught with so much tension and anger, and I applaud ABC for ordering a show like this, and hopefully it's talked about in context with real-life issues because American Crime has the potential to do well.

Secrets and Lies

Premise: Secrets and Lies is an aptly titled show. After Ben Garner, played by Ryan Phillippe, comes across the body of a young boy in the neighborhood, he becomes the prime suspect in the murder case. Detective Andrea Cornell digs for the truth and ends up exposing the secrets and lies that the town is hiding. KaDee Strickland, Natalie Martinez, Clifton Collins, Jr., Indiana Evans, Belle Shouse and Juliette Lewis also star.

Prognosis: ABC is banking on a big-name star like Ryan Phillippe to bring in viewers. He's been in countless movies, including I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cruel Intentions, Gosford Park and Crash, as well as some roles on TV like appearing in 10 episodes of Damages. And when you have someone like Juliette Lewis also signed on, we want to see Secrets and Lies do well. The trailer is well-made, but I don't really see anything that makes it stand out from the pack.

The Whispers

Premise: What do aliens need to gain world domination after invading Planet Earth? Our children, of course, who end up helping them -- and the race is on to stop the plan from reaching its unfortunate conclusion. Stars of this sci-fi drama include Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Lily Rabe (American Horror Story) and Barry Sloan (Revenge).

Prognosis: I'm hesitant to make any claims that this show will do well in the ratings, but the concept sounds really intriguing. The little girl featured in the trailer is cute and can act really well. And I love that this show stars the fantastic Lily Rabe, who already has proven to be exceptional as usual based on the below video.
