FOX Cancels 'Almost Human'
Tuesday, April 29, 2014
The future is not bright for the FOX drama Almost Human. After just one season, the network has cancelled the series.
A futuristic buddy cop drama starring Karl Urban and Michael Ealy, Almost Human is the first official casualty of the seven new scripted shows FOX aired during the 2013-2014 TV season. It averaged just under 6 million viewers in its Monday time slot from November to March.
While it's the first freshman scripted show to be axed by FOX this year, it won't be the last. Both Rake and Dads are effectively dead, though neither has been officially cancelled. The fate of Enlisted also looks grim, while Surviving Jack is squarely on the bubble.
FOX does already have two hits of the season, renewing drama Sleepy Hollow and comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine for second seasons.
The cancellation won't be a big problem for FOX because the network's new series model already has several new dramas in the pipeline. Rainn Wilson's Backstrom, the Batman prequel Gotham, an adaptation of the British series Broadchurch and the Egyptian adventure series Hieroglyph all received straight-to-series orders for next season.
Are you disappointed that the adventures of Kennex and Dorian are over on Almost Human?
