Julianne Nicholson was born on July 1, 1971 in Medford, Massachusetts. The eldest of four siblings, after she graduated from Arlington Catholic High School, she began to pursue a career in modeling. As a model, she worked for a time in New York and then Paris, before coming back to the Big Apple to major in general studies at Hunter College for two years. Nicholson also worked as a waitress during this time to support herself, before she decided to focus fully on acting. Among the television series she has worked on are Law and Order: Criminal Intent, ER, and Presidio Med.

Jenny Shaw is portrayed by Julianne Nicholson in the Fox network's Emmy Award-winning television comedy series Ally McBeal.
