Courtney Thorne-Smith was born on November 8, 1967 in San Francisco, California. She was raised in Menlo Park, a suburb located south of the city. The daughter of a computer market researcher, and a therapist, she had to cope with their divorce when she was only seven years old and alternately lived together with both of them at various points. Thorne-Smith studied at Menlo-Atherton High School, though she graduated instead from Tamalpais High School, located in Mill Valley, California. She has acted in a number of feature films, among them Lucas, Summer School, and Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise. Thorne-Smith has also worked on the television shows LA Law, Melrose Place, and According to Jim.
Georgia Thomas is portrayed by Courtney Thorne-Smith in the Fox network’s Emmy Award-winning television comedy series Ally McBeal. She is the wife of Billy, who suffers from his infidelity when he reveals that he’s still in love with Ally. The love triangle that ensues is a constant source of consternation to her, and she gets into an actual fight with Ally over her husband at a certain point.
