Biography

American actor Jeff Branson was born on March 10, 1977 in St. Louis, Missouri. He began acting professionally in 2000, with a guest role in the cult comedy hit Strangers with Candy. He also played small roles in several films, including Shaft, Semmelweis, Wolves of Wall Street and Get the Hell Out of Heaven. He also had a guest role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and a small role in the daytime soap Guiding Light, playing a younger Alan Spaulding (Ron Raines).

In 2004, Branson joined the cast of the long-running daytime soap All My Children. He played the role of the “sometimes villainous” Jonathan Lavery, a former executive and bartender whose psychotic and violent behavior was attributed to wrongly-prescribed anti-psychotic drugs and a malignant brain tumor. When his brain tumor was removed, he started acting child-like, and was marked by his being highly emotional. He became somewhat of a redeemed hero when a set of seizures gave him back his adult faculties.

Branson left the show temporarily on April 2005; his character was presumed dead in an explosion. During the time, he was playing a role in the romantic drama Four Lane Highway. He ultimately left the soap in 2007. He has also starred in other films, including Building Girl, The Big Bad Swim and Swing Vote: Whose Side Are You On?
