Alicia Minshew was born on May 28, 1974 in Plantation, Florida. Her mother was an aerobics instructor and her father was an Episcopal minister. She also has three sisters. When she was young, she always wanted to act and it became her ambition while she was growing up. She focused on her dream during high school until she received a musical theater scholarship to Indiana River College. Her early appearances include Grease, Kiss Me Kate, Godspell and Nunsense. She also hosted a show entitled The Music Zone, which was much like MTV during the time. Soon afterwards she did modeling projects and commercials. In January 2002 she was cast for the role of Kendall Hart in the soap opera All My Children. Aside from acting, her interests include playing the piano, and playing sports like swimming, long distance running, weight training, aerobics and dancing.

Kendall Hart Slater is played by Alicia Minshew on the soap opera All My Children. Richard Fields raped Erica Kane and Kendall became the product of that event. Bill and Alice Hart then adopted her and legally changed her name. She is has been married four times, to Anton Lang, Boyd Larraby, and twice to Zach Slater. She has one son with Ryan Lavery and twins with Zach Slater. She is the co-owner of Fusion Cosmetics Seasons Hotel and Casino, and ConFusion nightclub.
