In the said
All My Children episode scheduled to air sometime next month, Opal Cortland, played by Jill Larson, enlists the help of Mr. Buffett to help her best friend, Erica, who's been languishing in jail after pleading guilty to insider trading. Erica's plight had further been aggravated when she went on the run with her cellmate Carmen, while they were being transported to the federal prison.
Opal wants billionaire investment whiz, Warren Buffett, to try and broker a deal on Erica's behalf. She's hoping one of the richest men on the planet will have enough sway to help Erica's situation. In a scene from the said episode, Buffett excuses himself during their meeting with Erica and takes a phone call from fellow billionaire, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.
Warren Buffett's ties to
All My Children began when he met show creator, Agnes Nixon at the Winter Olympics in 1988. According to Bloomberg, the two launched into a discussion about writing and one month later, Nixon purchased some stocks after reading Buffett's comments in the Berkshire Hathaway annual report.
The 77-year old Buffett is chairman, CEO and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway. He has an estimated net worth of US$ 62 million and was named the richest person in the world by
Forbes early last month.
