Grammy Award-winning artist Celine Dion is dropping by Pine Valley, the fictional town that serves as the setting of ABC's All My Children, towards the end of November.  Dion will be appearing on the soap as part of a promotional media tour for her latest album, “Taking Chances.”

The 39-year-old Canadian singer will make her soap opera debut as a guest on Erica Kane's (Susan Lucci) talk show, New Beginnings.  She will talk about her life and new album, as well as perform her latest single, which is the album's title track.

"We are thrilled and honored to welcome Celine Dion to the All My Children stage.  Her appearance with Erica Kane and her musical performance is a great treat for our audience.  I can't think of a better way to ring in the holiday season than with the angelic sounds of Celine Dion," executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers said in a statement.

Brian Frons, head of Daytime television for ABC, said that Dion “represents another of today's top recording artists who are tapping into ABC's prime ratings position and garnering a presence with our daytime audience,” and that her appearance is “the perfect blend of the power of music coupled with dramatic storytelling and enhancing the visibility of our brand across multi-platforms.”

Dion is only the latest in a string of music stars to appear in daytime television.  In February, Grammy winner Nelly Furtado appeared as herself and performed on ABC's One Life to Live, and just last month, hip hop sensation Timbaland appeared on the same soap as a guest character and performed his hit song, “The Way I Are”.  Meanwhile, pop artist Enrique Iglesias performed a song from his latest album, “Insomniac,” on CBS' The Young and the Restless early this month.

Dion's All My Children episode is scheduled to air on Wednesday, November 21, a week after “Taking Chances” hits stores.
