Scott Gordon Patterson, who was born on September 11, 1959 in Philadelphia and raised in Haddonfield, New Jersey, was a minor league pitcher with the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers before becoming an actor. He was educated at the Rutgers University, where he was to complete a degree in comparative literature, however dropped out to study acting in New York with renowned coaches Robert Lewis and Sondra Lee. Shortly thereafter, he appeared in a number of productions at The Actors Studio. Patterson has appeared in films such as Little Big League, Three Wishes, and independent films Highway 395 and Rhapsody in Bloom. He is best known for portraying Luke Danes on CW's Gilmore Girls.

Gary Tolchuk is played by Scott Patterson in the television series, Aliens in America. Gary is an aspiring entrepreneur, husband of Franny and father to Claire and Justin. This eclectic family is composed of vibrant personalities which have their own flare. Toss in a Pakistani Muslim from a foreign exchange program and this would be the perfect recipe for fun and laughter. Aliens in America explores the different meanings of being different in the culture that may or may not be yours.
