Amy Pietz, who was born on March 6, 1969, hails from the Milwaukee High School of the Arts and DePaul University. She pursued an acting career, landing a role of Annie Spadaro in NBC's sitcom Caroline in the City, a portrayal she is best known for. She was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award in 1997 in this role and was later given the role of Charlie in ABC's sitcom,

Franny Tolchuk is played by Amy Pietz in the television series
Aliens in America. Franny is the wife of Gary, an aspiring entrepreneur and the mother of Justin and Claire, two very different high schoolers. Claire is pretty and popular, while Justin is just way too ordinary. In the hopes of helping Justin alleviate his social status dilemma, Franny signs up for a foreign exchange program and expects a handsome athlete to come by and instill some coolness factor into Justin. Everyone then gets the shock of their lives when they meet Pakistani Muslim Raja Musharaff, the exchange student.
