Rachel Nichols was born Rachel Emily Nichols on January 8, 1980 in Augusta, Maine. She has a double major in math and economics from Columbia University and was formerly a model for Guess?, Abercrombie & Fitch, L'Oreal and Nicole Miller. She successfully landed the very first role she auditioned for, as the restaurant hostess on HBO's Sex and the City. She is best known as newly recruited agent, Rachel Gibson, on the hit spy series, Alias.

Rachel Gibson, played by Rachel Nichols on Alias, is a computer whiz who has been lured into working for a terrorist group posing as the CIA. In a fate similar that of Sydney Bristow, Rachel discovered the truth behind the company she worked for and aided in bringing it to justice. In the process, she became Sydney's protégé and part of the real CIA.
