Armed with her big mouth and a controversial blog, Tila Tequila has decided to stand up and make herself heard. This side of the A Shot at Love star has barely been seen on television, so one can only imagine how surprising it is to hear her talk about political issues.
The self-proclaimed bisexual Tila Tequila has been giving her insights on Global Grind.com, and she recently wrote an open letter to President Obama. The reality television star addressed the issues of gays joining the military.
Tila even cited the story of Dan Choi, whom she describes as "a hero to many of us in the human rights movement." The man was kicked out of the army after he admitted to the public that he was homosexual.
"Now keep in mind, this is a man who proudly enlisted himself in the army, possibly endangering his own life, just so that he could help protect our country and be a PROUD SOLDIER TO PROTECT AND SERVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!" Tila wrote. "For him to get the boot just because of what gender he chooses to LOVE is absolutely RIDICULOUS to me!"
"Unfortunately, he isn't the first to be discriminated against, and unless President Obama acts fast, and keeps his campaign promise to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy" in the military, he will not be the last!"
Tila went on to express her rage towards the unsatisfactory legislation that was proposed years ago. "Being an openly bisexual woman myself and having a lot of close gay friends, I have always HATED that policy, which pretty much tells people that in order to serve our country, you have to live in secret."
"This country is supposed to be all about "EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL" So they should honor that commandment! We have come a long way, fighting for equal rights so why stop now?"
As for her plea with President Obama, here's what Tila Tequila had to say: "So now I am looking to our superhero President to do what is right! President Obama says that he will REPEAL the DADT policy, but so far, we don't have a date as of yet.....all we have is just a campaign promise that really gave us all hope during that time that a change was coming!"
She continued to blog saying that the president should"continue be the Superhero" he can be and soon set his focus on this issue.
"We are here, we are queer, and its about time that the military gets used to it!!! Discrimination is so 2000 and Late!"
