While
A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila was popular enough to bring back for a second season, it's questionable whether
Tila Tequila's likeability was helped or hurt by her exposure on the show. Sure, many reality show stars have taught us that not being likable and achieving reality show fame are far from mutually exclusive. Nevertheless, while Tila seems to be clearly happy to pursue fame, the slightly hurt tone of some of her blog entries seems to indicate that she was possibly expecting the public to fall as in love with her as all those suitors on the show did.
One star of
A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, though, seems to have emerged with an almost spotless image from her time on the show. During the initial episodes,
Dani Campbell might have struck many as the butch-ish underdog, unlikely to go much farther than the “Hey Girl Hey” girl. Then the entire universe went gay for Dani as we learned she's a stand-up kind of gal with a good head on her shoulders, confidence and a warm nature.
So if you are a lesbian who think Dani could well be a soulmate, a bi-sexual who could swing over to that side for her, one of the many previously-straight-as-an-arrow girls surprised to find her androgynous look appealing, or just a guy who thinks Dani would be a pretty cool chick to hang out with, you should have many opportunities to catch up with her over the next few months.
On Sunday, she was a featured guest at the New York season premiere of
The L Word, Showtime's series about a group of lesbian friends and lovers in the L.A. area.
Next, she's heading down to Florida for an appearance at G Bar in Tampa on January 18, and then the next day, she's in Pensacola for a party at the Red Carpet Lounge. She'll be in the Phoenix area sometime in February, although the dates and venue haven't been set yet.
Then in April, she'll be making an appearance at the (as she puts it) “notorious” lesbianpalooza, the Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs.
And, of course, if you can't make it out to see her live, one suspects she'll probably show up at some point on season 2 of
A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila.
