A Shot at Love: Tila Tequila Taking Legal Action Against Blogger
For once, Tila Tequila isn’t too happy about the attention she’s getting.  Emily Farris, a blogger from Nerve.com, has received a cease-and-desist letter from the A Shot at Love star’s lawyers.  All Farris did was to use a picture of the Internet celebrity for her post, and Tila’s people threatened Nerve for mentioning the celebrity’s name without authorization.

The letter that Farris received read, “It has come to our client's attention that you are using our client's name and image without permission.  Neither our client or any of her employees, agents or representatives have granted you the right to exploit either her professional name or image.”

These legal matters aren’t exactly clear though, but Farris followed up the post saying that her people are looking into the matter.  Still, the case probably won’t last that long in court anyway.

Nerve admits that its seeking legal advice, but the website is keeping the post up even though Tila and her lawyers have asked them to “remove and destroy all copies of such photos.”  They even want a “written certification of such destruction.”

Tila’s lawyers continue to claim that her name and image is subject to copyright, and that people need Tila’s permission before reporting news about her.  The Nerve’s blog post didn’t even zero in on the self-proclaimed bisexual star.  She was just mentioned in passing, as the last item in an array of news articles.

It’s pretty surprising since Tila Tequila practically feeds on the Internet for her fame.  She rose to the spotlight with only her MySpace account, but it seems as though things have changed now that she’s a reality TV star.

This gets audiences wondering whether this is really a big issue, or if Tila’s intentionally stirring up controversy once again.  If the former is true, then maybe we should all stop writing about “her” for now.  It’s not really going to affect her MySpace hit counter, right?
