Peter MacNicol as
Thomas Lennox Peter MacNicol was born on April 10, 1954 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and began his acting career by performing in several regional theaters around the country. Eventually, he landed a role in his first feature film, Dragonslayer, in 1981, and in the same year was named one of Screen World's “Promising New Actors of 1981” and appeared in the Broadway production of Crimes of the Heart. In 1993, MacNicol joined the cast of the stage revival Black Comedy/ White Lies.
MacNicol's subsequent film projects include Sophie's Choice, Ghostbusters II, Bt Dawn's Early Light, HouseSitter, The Powers That Be, Addams Family Values, Radioland Murders, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Bean, Baby Geniuses, Crazy Love and Breakin' All the Rules. MacNicol is also currently adapting and directing the critically acclaimed Dennis Covington novel, Salvation on Sand Mountain.
On the small screen, MacNicol is most known for his portrayal of attorney John Cage in the legal drama/ comedy series
Ally McBeal . The role earned him a 2001 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, a 2003 Golden Satellite Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Comedy or Musical, a 1999 Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and a 1999 Q Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Quality Comedy Series.
