James Morrison as
William Buchanan Actor James Morrison was born on April 21, 1954 in Bountiful, Utah. He spent most of his formative years in Alaska, and started acting by becoming a circus clown and wirewalker. He then carried out his theatrical apprenticeship at Alaska Repertory Theater, and subsequently worked with La Jolla Playhouse, the Mark Taper Forum and The Old Globe. Additionally, Morrison has also performed at The Sundance Institute, The Ensemble Studio Theater, The Playwrights Center of Minneapolis, LA Theater Works, The MET Theater, Two Parts Theater Company, The Wooden O, The Road Theater, among others.
Apart from acting, Morrison is also a producer, writer and award-winning director, with his first film, Parking, garnering a 1996 Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film at Slamdance. His wife, Riad Galayani, took over the directing reigns in the film, Nude Descending, which Morisson co-wrote and produced. Nude Descending earned special recognition from the American Cinematheque and a 1998 George Melies Award from the Taos Talking Picture Festival. Galayani and Morrison also collaborated on the film, Crossing, which came out at the top of Chicks in the Flicks Film Festival in New York. Currently, aside from starring in the hit television series, 24, Morrison is busy as the producer of the upcoming documentary, Showing Up, and is a Lecture Fellow at Bournemouth University School of Media in the UK. In addition, he also works as a Hatha yoga teacher at the Los Angeles-based Center for Yoga.
