Carlos Bernard was born on October 12, 1962 in Chicago. He got his degree in fine arts from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. His theater credits included As You Like It, Hamlet, The Diary of Anne Frank and The Cherry Orchard. Apart from theater, he appeared on shows like Walker, Texas Ranger, Silk Stalkings and Maloney to name a few. Later, he starred as a regular on the soap opera The Young and the Restless. At present, he is part of the thriller series 24 where he plays Tony Almeida. Tony Almeida is a president of a private security technology company who has wide and extensive credentials. He studied at San Diego State University where he got his degree in Engineering and Computer Science. He also studied at Stanford where he got his Masters. Previously, he served in the United States Marine Corps, attended the 3rd Marine Division's Scout-Sniper school and the 1st Marine Division's Surveillance and Target Acquisition Platoon School. Aside from this, he is a certified instructor of the Krav Maga self defense system. As a CTU Special Agent, he and Jack continuously encounter conflicts with each other but despite of this, they share a mutual respect for each other and even became best friends. Eventually, Tony dies as a result of a stab.
