Episode 7.2 Recap

We open with air traffic control trying to figure out what to do about their rogue plane, now just one hundred miles or so from JFK.  They manage to overhear Tony acting as air traffic control speaking to the pilot.  The pilots buy the ruse, and change their course.  The FBI is pretty baffled.

Jack and Walker search the outdoors for the sniper.  Jack thinks that there is a mole in the FBI, because of how quickly a sniper appeared and because Tony called the office while Jack was inside.  Walker doesn't think there's a mole.  A SWAT team arrives, and Jack is ordered to wait in a car until they find the shooter.

Air traffic can't figure out what they're doing with the plane.  Tony is having them land on a different runway.  Then, Tony blocks air traffic control.  They can't see anyone or hear anything.  Tony sends a second plane into a collision course with the first one.  Tony calls air traffic and tells them to watch the security feed from the JFK runway.  At the last second, Tony tells one of the pilots to pull up.  The two planes narrowly miss each other.  Tony just wanted to show them what he could do.  He calls back air traffic and says that this was just a demonstration.  He speaks in his gruff voice.  Tony is all gruff now.

The sniper watches as the building is surrounded.  We see, via his intense face, that he is searching for an exit strategy.

Three mean looking dudes arrive at Tony's hideout on the pier.  Of course it's on the pier.  Tony has the car crash nerd guy uncuffed. They get him cleaned up.  The three dudes are interested in the module.  Tony says the testing went well.  He also says that Jack Bauer won't be a problem.  The dude he talks to is the one giving Tony orders, apparently.  Tony will get further instructions at a later time.  The dudes take genius nerd guy away.

Tanner, the sniper, talks to Tony on the phone.  He's surrounded.  He needs a way out.  Jack waits in the car – the driver tells him that he thinks it wrong what the senate is doing to Jack.  Jack disagrees.  He thinks it's good to get everything in the open.  He wants the people to know about how things work, the secret things the government has been doing.  Tanner, in the basement, is being cornered by a lone FBI agent.  The Agent is Tony's man.  He's there to get Tanner out.  He gives him a uniform and the keys to a car near the building.

Jack asks the dude if he can step out and get some air.  Jack notices the sniper walking away because he has different shoes than everyone else.  He notifies Walker.  He tells her that they shouldn't tell anyone and follow him on their own, because they don't know who or where the mole is and how bad the FBI has been compromised.  That Jack – he thinks of everything.  Jack gets the keys – he and Walker follow Tanner.

Tony's boss dude, now with the module and the genius, arrives at a special super secret bunker of some kind.  Dubaku, the second in command Sangala guy from 24: Redemption, is there.  As they say, the plot thickens.  He's still working with Dubaka.  Boss guy tells Dubaka it'd be a good time to now make his demands to the president.

Moss learns that Walker is not at the scene – she's with Bauer.  Bauer and Walker follow Tanner – Walker answers Moss's phone call.  She covers, says they're following up on a lead.  Moss is suspicious.  Walker asks him to trust her.  He does.  Moss has Janis track Walker via her com device.

Tanner arrives at Tony's pier-side lair.  Bauer and Walker follow him.  Bauer is given a gun. I've got a feeling he's going to kill some mofos.  Tanner, about to enter, gets suspicious. Bauer gets the best of him, punches him numerous times in the abdomen, then kicks him in the face.  Jack shoots out the surveillance camera.  Tony sends some minions out to see what's up.  Walker kills one.  Jack kills another. Tanner is killed by crossfire.  They enter the boat.  Walker finds a computer that is deleting everything on the hard drive.  She can't stop the deleting in time.

Jack finds Tony, but Tony runs.  Jack catches him, with the help of a flying, tumbling tackle.  Agent Moss arrives in a helicopter.  Jack is distraught.  Tony says nothing.  Beep-boop, beep-boop.

Meanwhile....at the White House

The press secretary informs the press that General Juma will not back down, and the president sees a military presence in Sangala as a necessary move.  President Taylor meets with Sangala ambassador Mutobo.  She asks that Juma, post-invasion, be dealt with in a just, legal manner.  She doesn't want an execution or anything.  That's how democracy can spread.  Mutobo agrees.  The invasion is imminent.  Taylor is told about Almeida and the near miss at JFK.  Taylor authorizes the grounding of all non-essential flights.  Taylor is briefed about the threat of the module/firewall, etc.  Drinking water, power grids and other things are at risk.  They don't have many options.  Shutting everything down would be awful, and they can't rejigger the firewall – it'd take weeks or months.

The First Husband's assistant tells on the First Husband to Chief of Staff Ethan (Bob Gunton) about the PI and the fact that they're now going to see his son's former girlfriend.  The First Husband arrives at his son's girlfriend's (Carly Pope) place of work.  They talk outside.  He interrogates her about the money.  She says the money belongs to her aunt.  She'd been having money problems and she wanted to avoid the IRS.  The First Husband DOES NOT BELIEVE HER!  He's crazed.  The explanation did seem pretty lame.
