FOX Unveils Full Trailer for '24: Redemption'

Jack Bauer returns to rock our collective worlds on Sunday, November 23 in a two-hour season 7 prequel movie.  The movie, mostly set in the fictional African nation of Sangala, was previously titled 24: Exile.  FOX has since renamed the film, which is now dubbed 24: Redemption.  I find the name change peculiar, because 24: Exile was an excellent name, while 24: Redemption is far too on the nose and, I admit, a tad bit wussy.  Why would Jack Bauer need redemption?  The man is a national treasure who has saved the world from utter destruction on numerous occasions.  He's in Africa, presumably on his own personal exile.  I seriously doubt that he's actively searching for redemption.  He may be, but again, he shouldn't need to.  Nonetheless, FOX has unveiled the full trailer for 24: Redemption today, and you can find the full video below.

Not a bad trailer.  I'm now legitimately excited for 24: Redemption, and it looks to be a palette-cleansing affair after the abominable end of 2006's season 6.  FOX opted to use the always spectacular theme music from Requiem for a Dream, which has been utilized often in movie trailers (most notably in the preview for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers).

Peter MacNichol and Powers Boothe are back, and we get our first look at Cherry Jones as the 24 universe's first ever female president.  24: Redemption takes place on inauguration day for the new president, and will indeed utilize the 24-trademarked real-time format.  The plot has become clearer, as well.  Jack Bauer is entrenched in Sangala, where some sort of military coup is imminent.  Jack will do what he can, while the US administration will have to decide whether or not to take military action in Sangala.  Robert Carlyle is also on hand as Jack's old pal Carl Benton, who Jack must help out.  Benton is apparently kidnapped.

24: Redemption
airs Sunday, November 23, at 8pm on FOX.
