Peter MacNicol as Thomas Lennox
Thomas Lennox, on the series 24, is portrayed by Peter MacNicol. Thomas graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Political Science and eventually gained his PhD in Government from Harvard University. He used to be affiliated with the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.
Thomas possesses a vast and impressive resume, having previously worked as a guest professor in American Politics at the University of Pennsylvania, the Chief of Economic Development Administration for the Commerce Department, a guest professor of Political Philosophy at Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, a policy advisor to the Palmer-Prescott Presidential campaign, the Special Assistant to the President/ Domestic Policy Council, The Chief of Staff and Counselor to the Commerce Department’s Secretary and the policy director of the Palmer-Daniels presidential campaign.
Currently, Thomas serves as President Wayne Palmer’s Chief of Staff and is a board member of the Georgetown Institute, the James P. Williams Center for Public Affairs and the Catalyn Foundation. Also a political writer, Thomas has penned various literature regarding constitutional law, political philosophy and public policy.
Although it was Thomas who successfully persuaded Wayne Palmer join the presidential race before Day 6, he was not very well-liked by Wayne’s deceased brother David, nor does Thomas see himself on the good side of Sandra, Wayne’s sister. Thomas’ willingness to resort to unconstitutional means has made him an unfavorable character in the eyes of David and Sandra. Instances of his questionable behavior include blackmailing Karen Hayes into resigning and taking advantage of Hayes’ resignation by getting the President to permit extreme operations involving national security. Thomas also got involved with Reed Pollock in a conspiracy to get rid off President Palmer, but later on tried to set right his wrongful acts.
In the process of correcting his mistakes, Thomas encountered some difficulty with Vice President Daniels. Daniels was convinced that it was Hamri-Al Assad who carried out the terrorist attacks, and Thomas could not get him to see otherwise until Thomas recorded Daniels and his secretary talking about committing perjury.
