24: The Rookie - Day 3, Episode 5 Recap
24: The Rookie feels almost like a parody of 24.  Everything about The Rookie is exactly like 24, except infinitely worse.  The acting, the production, the graphics, the plot – it's just a shortened, dumbed down version of 24.  It's a good lesson in storytelling – 24 works because of how epic it is.  The story can play out over a number of twists, double crosses and surprise death because there's 24 episodes to work with.  On something like The Rookie, the sped up story makes for a less than satisfying product.  But, for what it is, The Rookie is entertaining enough.

We begin the episode with our hero, Jason Blaine, laying the smack down on Javier Medina.  Medina demands that they let him go, but Blaine demands that Medina tells him where Salazar is.  Medina says he doesn't know what Blaine is talking about, forcing Blaine to play Medina a recording of himself discussing Salazar.  Medina says that he never worked with Salazar directly, only his people.  Blaine doesn't buy this and threatens to let Medina out of the van for Salazar's people to find.  Relenting, Medina asks for full immunity, and then says this:“I want a house, not an apartment.”  Just seemed like a weird thing to say, but whatever.  Medina gives Blaine the info he wants and is dropped off at his car, while Medina is taken to the airport.

Meanwhile, Salazar hears the bad news from his motorcycle cronies – there was an explosion.  Salazar believes he's still alive.  He then finds that Maxwell escaped.  He and his men go looking for him – apparently, there's only one exit in the building.  Maxwell is on the roof, or so it seems, looking for a way to escape. Blaine drives to the Salazar safe house, and asks his people to acquire 3-D imaging of the building.  They get to work on it, and the webisode ends.
