'24' Star Mary Lynn Rajskub Debuts New Film at Sundance
24 fans are still reeling from the indefinite postponement of their favorite drama.  In these times of strike-induced, 24-less existence fans can still see their favorite actors in other side projects.  The multi-talented actress and comedienne Mary Lynn Rajskub (who plays Chloe O'Brian on 24) just debuted her new film Sunshine Cleaning last week at the Sundance Film Festival.  The film festival, held in Telluride, Utah has become known as a breeding ground for stand out independent films.  Sunshine Cleaning stars Amy Adams and Emily Blunt as sisters who start their own crime scene cleaning company.  Rajskub plays one of their first clients, who strikes up an interesting relationship with one of the sisters.

In an interview from Sundance, Rajskub described the movie and her character as such, “There's sort of humor throughout, even though it's a dark subject matter and it's emotional. The characters are interesting and complex, but it's not an over the top drama by any means. The biggest thing for me was playing a pretty straight character that's not weird, or troubled. Or rude.”  For fans of 24, the chance to see Mary Lynn tackle a non-weird character is a rare one.  On 24, Chloe is an odd duck, a character that Rajskub seemingly conjured from the ether.

I know there are 24 fans out there who aren't the biggest fans of Chloe O'Brian as a character, but I personally love what she brings to the table.  She's a character who you don't typically see in situations like the ones you find on 24.  However, I do believe that it's important for Mary Lynn and her future to try and avoid being pigeon-holed as a weirdo.  Prior to 24, she played an almost as weird as Chloe character in the Adam Sandler-Paul Thomas Anderson film Punch Drunk Love.  After her time on 24 is done, I could see a nice career in film for Rajskub, playing an array of off-beat supporting characters.
