24's seventh season is slowly coming into focus. Since last week's unveiling of Day 7's first trailer, we've learned that Tony Almeida has returned and appears to be evil (don't believe the hype). The trailer confirmed that CTU had been dissolved and that Jack Bauer will begin the season on trial for his “actions in the pursuit of justice.” One of the things that the trailer didn't provide any insight into was Chloe O'Brian's (Mary Lynn Rajskub) role. We knew Chloe would be returning to
24, but not in what capacity. Now, thanks to TV Guide, we've got some answers: Chloe O'Brian is working for a rogue government agency that is looking to unravel a large government conspiracy. Also, Chloe's a mother.

Before I read the TV Guide piece, I totally forgot that Chloe was pregnant at the end of last season, thanks to Morris. Just goes to show how forgettable season 6 of
24 was. So, rogue agency. Sounds solid enough. Could be fun. Mary Lynn Rajskub assures fans that, despite her character's new post, some things never change. “I'm still behind my computer monitoring Jack, and things are still on the verge of total destruction,” Rajskub said. Well, that's good to know.
I wonder if Bill Buchanan will also be a part of this rogue agency. He's been confirmed as returning to
24 this season, and that would appear to be his logical post. Perhaps the real question is this: Is Tony Almeida part of this rogue agency, maybe just indirectly? Also, will Morris O'Brian return? I hope so,
Carlo Rota was one of the bright spots last season on
24.
The other insight from the TV Guide piece was that since Chloe is now a a mother, her once cynical world view has softened. I don't know how I feel about this. Chloe is Chloe for a reason.
