It looks like this is it for Jack Bauer.
Variety reports that Fox are ready to pull the plug on
24, ending the show's successful run after this, their eighth season.
Fan Columnist: Upping the emotional anteWhile representatives from both the network and 20th Century Fox Television declined to comment, the report suggests that a final decision could be made within the week.
The show's more recent seasons may have seen a drop in ratings, but the Emmy-winning series is still an important part of Fox's primetime schedule. The network might be keen on renewing the show for a ninth season, but production expenses have been on the rise.
Even if
24 ends on the small screen, though, fans can expect a
24 movie to push through.
Screenwriter Billy Ray was previously reported to have been hired to write a script for the big screen version. With the television series' end all but imminent, a film version is now more possible.
So, yes, that means we've got a bigger chance in seeing Jack Bauer in Europe.
Are you sad to see the series go? Should it have gone earlier, or should it go on for at least one season? I think it's better to see the show go out on a high... then again, if Fox indeed decides not to renew
24 for a ninth season, there's still the movie to talk about.
