Dexter season 4 is just two months away, and it’s looking darker (andfunnier) than ever. Now that America’s favorite serial killer is a newhusband and father, his life is considerably more complicated.
At the show’s Comic-Con panel on Thursday, they revealed a previewtrailer for season 4. In it, we learn that Dexter Morgan is strugglingto balance his lives as a blood analyst, father, husband and killer. Some of the cute moments involving him awkwardly taking his new baby onthe road while talking to the newborn about killing people are as weirdand darkly funny as Dexter has ever been.
But for me, the true highlight of the trailer is seeing John Lithgow, Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actor who is probably better known for broad comedies like 3rd Rock from the Sun. As the Trinity Killer, Lithgow is quite effective at portraying an ominous serial killer who has been doing it for more than 30 years.
Given Dexter’s own issues with his dad and the fact that he has a new son, will this aging serial killer become a surrogate father to Dexter Morgan? Check out the trailer below to judge for yourself.
