Recap:
Following elimination Virginia is still upset over Sara's betrayal at the last dinner service. Sara counters by saying Virginia needs to grow up and "stop acting like a big baby with a load in her diaper,? a comment which, of course, reeks of maturity.
The next day, the chefs meet with Chef Ramsey standing in front of a table filled with appetizers. Chef Ramsey goes over the importance of tasting the food. What the chefs don't realize however is that each dish is a fake, the fondue is actually cheese-wiz, the pâté is really crushed hot dogs, and the caviar is made from cat fish. The chefs dig in and Ramsey asks for their impressions. Ramsey marvels at their cluelessness. He then drops the bomb that none of these delicacies are real, adding that if anyone wants to kill themselves feel free to gorge on the fake caviar. Pretty sure that was a joke.
To further try their tasting skills Chef Ramsey sets up a blind taste test. Each team member, while blindfolded, will have to identify four different items and the team with the most accurate palette wins. Honestly, this is a bit boring, so to jazz things up let's pretend like it's a World Cup shootout. Keith and Maribel both score two points which brings up Heather and Virginia. Heather fails to identify the cheese while Virginia samples the dish and guesses...Swiss cheese? GOOOOOAL! The Red Team pulls ahead by one. It all comes down to Sara and Garrett. Sara can't guess the kiwi which means Garrett needs to identify the rib dish to keep his team alive. He lines up his shot, he kicks and...turkey? Oh, he hits the crossbar, no good! The Red Team wins!
For losing the challenge the Blue Team is charged with cleaning HELL'S KITCHEN. There's dirt and grime caked over everything and the disappointed look on Keith's face kind of says it all. The Red Team, however, get to be featured in an exclusive TV Guide photo shoot.
The Red Team arrives at the shoot and is greeted with tall glasses of champagne, while back at HELL'S KITCHEN the Blue Team struggles to clean the mountain of soiled dishes. An assistant comes in and elects Garrett to deliver more champagne to the photo shoot. When he arrives the girls heckle him and Ramsey orders him back to the kitchen, cause that's what you get when you can't tell the difference between turkey and rib. Sara then makes the most of the experience by breaking wind in the middle of the photo shoot, which angers Rachel who thinks she's immature.
The chefs arrive for their fifth dinner service and Chef Ramsey is hell-bent on each team filling every order. HELL'S KITCHEN opens, and Rachel burns the first prepared duck and Ramsey asks if this is a sign of things to come. Rachel assures him it isn't. Ramsey then gives the Red Team some polite words of encouragement. "Please, please, please, please, move your asses!? Inspiring.
Problems continue for the Red Team, as a customer returns a dish complaining about a long, black hair sticking out of the food, which everyone believes is Maribel's. Rachel then presents a second burnt dish and Ramey takes her into the back, asking if she wants to quit. Rachel says she won't be broken and Ramsey implores her to get her act together. Unfortunately Rachel continues to struggle, undercooking two more wellingtons.
Despite a wobbly finish the Blue Team serves all their entrees and completes the service. Things aren't going as well for the Red Team. Rachel overcooks the wellingtons and tries to disguise her mistake by painting them with sauce. Chef Ramsey catches this immediately and, exasperated, tells the Red Team to shut down the kitchen.
The guest leave and Ramsey declares the Blue Team the winners and instructs Virginia to nominate two of her teammates for elimination. Back at the dorms, Rachel begins lobbying Virginia to elect Sara, bringing up her betrayal from the night before.
The chefs gather for elimination and Virginia, to no one's surprise nominates Rachel. She then goes into aggravating detail recounting Sara's prior betrayal. She looks stupid, Chef Ramsey looks bored, and the Blue Team is struggling not to laugh. Virginia then finishes her monologue and nominates – Maribel? Ramsey asks why and Virginia begins to explain how a hair in the food is unacceptable, but Ramsey cuts her off, thank God. Rachel tells Ramsey she brings a maturity to her team and doesn't want to go home yet. Maribel says she's an aspiring chef, but every day in HELL'S KITCHEN she's growing stronger. Ramsey then eliminates Rachel, saying that even though she's showed great determination her mistakes tonight were inexcusable.
