  • Volley hotties Eric and Jeremy try a questionable tactic to slow down the other teams.
  • The teams have to brave a crocodile pit and a tandem sky-dive Roadblock.
  • The Hippies make good on last week's threatened Yield.
Recap: As the number of teams dwindle, tensions are growing between the Goofy (BJ Averell and Tyler MacNiven, aka the "Hippies") and the Pretty (primarily Monica Cayce and Joseph Meadows, aka MoJo, but also shallow hotties Eric Sanchez and Jeremy Ryan). Eric/Jeremy leave the Perth Pit Stop first, followed by MoJo, then the Hippies. The three teams meet while waiting for taxis, and the Pretty barely conceal distaste for the Goofy. The Hippies don't get it; they know MoJo think they've been deceitful, but feel they've been open throughout the Race. Meanwhile, Ray Whitty and Yolanda Brown-Moore, last to leave the Pit Stop, remain above the inter-team squabbling. Their energy is focused on maintaining their team dynamic, not creating friction outside the duo. Each team races to the Swan Bells tower in Perth. Upon arrival, all learn that the playing field has once again been leveled: It won't open until 8:00 AM. They settle in to wait for morning. The Hippies observe Eric flirting with Monica; they think they might be able to use this to drive a wedge between the Pretty teams. In the morning, Ray and the Hippies call for taxis to arrive right at 8:00 AM. Jeremy and Joseph each call for cabs as well. Jeremy, however, gives a false name. Eric/Jeremy then call the taxi company back to cancel the taxis that Ray and the Hippies have arranged. I'm no innocent, nevertheless, I am SHOCKED! Shocked, I say! It's one thing to not offer assistance to another team, but this interference seems to border on cheating. Eric/Jeremy feel like the other teams have it coming because they didn't think to use false names. Well, Joseph didn't use a false name either, but I guess it's OK because he's Pretty. The teams race to the top of the tower to retrieve the clue, which directs them to fly to Darwin. Back at the base of the tower, the Hippies head to the first cab they see. MoJo are right behind them, and force the Hippies out when the driver confirms that the cab is for Joseph. None of the other cabs show up – including Eric/Jeremy's. (Once again, Amazing Race Brand Instant Karma works its magic!) Ray calls the taxi company again, and learns that the cabs were canceled. He informs the Hippies. Suspicion immediately falls on MoJo, since they were the only ones whose cab showed up. Eric/Jeremy keep mum about their role. At the airport, the Hippies catch up with MoJo and confront them about the cabs. At first they don't respond, but when the other two teams arrive, blame lands correctly on Eric/Jeremy. The Hippies then make some comments about Eric flirting with Monica. Once again, the playing field is even, as everyone gets on the same flight. They land in Darwin and head out to a Crocodile park. Team MoJo continues to simmer with Hippie hatred. Joseph eloquently sums up their feelings: "It's like, dude, shut up!" At the park, each team suits up to wade across a pool of crocodiles to retrieve the next clue. The clue sends them to a Roadblock in Batchelor, and warns there is a Yield ahead. The Hippies head off in first place, with MoJo nipping at their heels. After that, it's Eric/Jeremy, and Ray/Yolanda bringing up the rear. In the car, the Hippies confirm their plan to yield MoJo if they arrive first. They manage this with only a nanosecond to spare, as MoJo races them on foot to the Yield spot. After a moment of hesitation, the Hippies yield them. MoJo is beyond pissed, with Monica near tears. MoJo spends the duration of the Yield in Reality Show Pretty Person near-incoherency and on the verge of a spat. The Roadblock is to tandem skydive. BJ skydives for his team, Eric for his team, and Ray for his. MoJo's Yield ends; Monica completes the task for her team. Each team then drives to a field of Magnetic Termite Mounds to find a clue sending them to a Detour. The choices are Wet: a one-mile walk/swim down a rough, spider-filled river, or Dry: a longer drive and didgeridoo-centric challenge. The Hippies and Eric/Jeremy head off to the Wet. Ray/Yolanda and Team MoJo choose Dry. Ray/Yolanda make quick work of the Dry challenge, and make it to the Pit Stop mat in first place. For their win, they both receive one-year leases of Mercedes SUV's. Although the teams heading to Wet had a long lead going into the Detour, the river slows them down considerably, and MoJo is able to make up all the time by quickly completing the Dry challenge. All three teams race in formation in their cars to the Pit Stop location: Eric/Jeremy first, next the Hippies, and MoJo right up on their bumper. They all leap from the cars and race to the mat. It seems as though MoJo, slowed down by Monica, won't be able to keep up, until BJ makes a tactical error taking a short cut to the mat. He falls, and the Hippies wind up in last place. Monica seems about to pass out with glee. Not for long though – Phil Keoghan tells them this is a non-elimination round. The Hippies will lose everything except what they're wearing, but they're still in it. Hmmm... BJ isn't wearing shoes; will he have to continue barefoot? Phil asks the team how the competition is heating up. Monica says the Hippies are devious for starting rumors about her and Eric. While I do think that was tacky, I don't think that standing silently by while Eric/Jeremy canceled the others' cabs was really seizing the moral high ground, darlin'. Moral, schmoral – the only ground worth grabbing in this game is that first place spot on the mat. With four teams left and the front spot shifting frequently, this might be a photo finish.
