Episode Overview: The ten comics lose some sleep over a challenge with Adam Corolla, and a four-way tie sends nearly half of the group to the head-to-head elimination.
Episode Highlights: - The group has a tough early morning challenge on Adam Corolla's morning show.
- There is a LOT of filler footage used in tonight's episode and so here's a filler highlight in tribute!
- A tie in the nominations means that four of the comics compete in the head-to-head challenge, and two will go home.
Recap:
Michelle Balan, winner of last week's elimination challenge, is happy to return to the comic's current residence, the Queen Mary. She lets the group know she won with 82% of the audience's vote. She hopes this win will put the other comics - many of whom tried to vote her off last week - on notice that she's no lightweight.
That night, the group has an evening of Moroccan food - or, as Rebecca Corry puts it, "weird meat and raisins" - and belly dancers. A good time appears to be had...and that's about it, nothing interesting actually happens.
The comics retire for the evening, but are woken at 2:30 AM to get ready for their next challenge. They're on the bus by 3:30 AM and on their way to the Adam Corolla morning talk show. Once there, Adam informs the comics that they will have twenty minutes to prepare for their challenge, which will be a one-minute bit about an oddball magazine selected at random.
The comics receive their magazines and struggle to come up with workable routines. Chris Porter gets "Latina Wedding," which entirely in Spanish. And he doesn't know Spanish. Bill Dwyer gets a magazine about cats, Kristin Key, a magazine about knitting. No one seems thrilled about this challenge, and most of the comics feel like they bombed.
Kristin feels this way as well, but Adam lets her know at the end that she would have won had her material not ran shy of a minute (so she filled it by saying the word "knitting" over and over again; her skill with filler might get her a job in reality television editing).
So, Adam says, it was a near toss-up between Rebecca and Bill, and Rebecca wins. She's thrilled to have immunity; Bill's mildly cheesed that he didn't get it. And this information is repeated in various forms for the next few minutes of the show.
And then the comics play football. Nothing of note happens (again) except that Josh Blue, the comic with cerebral palsy, is a much better receiver than anyone expected.
Next, the gang heads to the boiler room, where host Anthony Clark sends them one-by-one into the voting booth. The votes result in a four-way tie for the following (the comics who voted for them in parentheses following): Bill (Joey/Ty Barnett), Michelle (Roz/Bill), Joey (Rebecca/Michelle) and Chris Porter (Kristin/Gabriel Iglasias - who pulled this vote, once again, from his hat).
The four seem surprised that they will all need to compete (as opposed to the usual three), but Anthony Clark confirms this is so. They pack and prepare their routines. Chris determines he's going to use his best material so that he won't have any regrets if he loses. Joey is determined to take out Michelle since she voted for him. Bill is just plain nervous.
Joey is first up and seems to do pretty well. Chris is up second, and his sex-and-drugs routine seems to be a hit with the audience (and was this recapper's favorite of the night). Bill...I want to like Bill, he seems sweet and I dig that orange sweater he's really committed to, but after hearing his routine several times, I just don't find him laugh-out-loud funny. Michelle seems to do fairly solid again tonight.
Anthony Clark announces the audience picks! Bill is eliminated, Chris wins the audience favorite for the evening (with 52% of the vote), Joey is eliminated (and gracious in his post-interview, despite his rather rabid competitiveness in the game), and Michelle has once again triumphed over the house opinions. Will the other comics learn their lesson about this clear audience darling? We'll have to tune in next week to see!
