Amanda Swafford Biography:
Aspiring model Amanda Swafford was living in Austin, Texas before she moved to Henderson, North Carolina. The 5 foot, 8 inch aspiring model tried her luck in America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 3 and successfully became one of the 14 finalists. When Amanda was only 14 years old, she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a condition that will eventually rob her of her eyesight by the time she turns 30. Prior to joining the show, Amanda was busy taking care of her baby boy named Eli. She likes to read Vanity Fair Magazine and enjoys eating crab cakes. Her favorite movie is Baraka.
Not only did Amanda become one of the 14 finalists, Tyra and the other judges also believed she was good enough to bring her all the way to the Final 3. The challenge was a photo shoot for the new lipstick from CoverGirl. Whoever would win America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 3 would have the honor of having their pictures used as an ad for the said lipstick. All of the girls did great during the photo shoot but the judges were least impressed with Amanda, and although she had been a very strong contender all throughout the competition, the judges decided to keep Eva and Yaya, making Amanda the 11th model to be eliminated.
After appearing on the show, Amanda went on to model for Levi’s, where she gets to work with models who are also suffering from visually-impairing medical conditions. She walked the runway at ElleGirl presents Dare To Be You: Wal-Mart Meets America's Next Top Models 2005, and was placed on the cover of Bliss for Brides Magazine. Currently, Amanda is preoccupied with making a multi-sensory children’s books, and is set to appear in two indie flicks.
