American actress Alicis Minshew was born on May 28, 1974 in Plantation, Florida. Having aspired to become an actress since she was young, she set out to pursue such a career after graduating from South Fork High School in Stuart, Florida. She made her acting debut in 1999, playing a bit role in the film Hit and Runway. She also appeared in the films The Caprice and Game Day.
She got her big break in 2002, when she joined the cast of the daytime soap All My Children. She took on the role of Kendall Hart, a role that was originated by Sarah Michelle Gellar in 1993 until her departure in 1995. Her character is known as one of daytime’s most complex and layered characters, because of her complicated history, her skill at getting revenge, and her yearning for love whenever she feels vulnerable—all in the belief that the ends justify the means. Minshew auditioned many times for the program, but did not know she was being cast as the popular character only later. Her character is married to Zach Slater (Thorsten Kaye).
Minshew’s character is one of the soap’s most popular. She was nominated twice, in 2003 and 2005, for a Soap Opera Digest Award. The show’s producers also capitalized on her success by releasing a book her character purportedly wrote, releasing it in stores at the same time it was released in the soap. She also appeared in One Life to Live, as part of a crossover storyline between the two soaps involving a baby switch between Bianca Montgomery (Eden Riegel) and Babe Carey (Alexa Havins).
Aside from acting, Minshew’s interests include playing the piano, and playing sports like swimming, long distance running, weight training, aerobics and dancing.
