Long distance daters Aja Benton and Ty White are one of the 11 pairs participating in the 13th season of The Amazing Race. They hope that the race will help them determine whether they can live together on a daily basis.
25-year-old Aja is an aspiring actress who also works as a make-up artist. 25-year-old Ty, on the other hand, works as a banker. The two met while studying at the University of Michigan, and quickly became friends. Only later did they realize that they are meant to be; the problem is, Aja lives in Los Angeles and Ty lives in Detroit.
The race is an opportunity for the two to be together for a much longer period of time; the longest they ever spent together is two weeks last Christmas. Despite their own weaknesses—she gets easily upset, he doesn’t have a good sense of time—they hope to get through the race and be closer as a result. Aja describes herself as energetic and insightful. Ty, on the other hand, hates the thought of losing but looks forward to the race as a chance to explore other cultures and places around the world.
