Canadian actor Aaron Douglas was born on August 23, 1971 in New Westminster, British Columbia. He’s always aspired to become an actor, dreaming of being one since his childhood; during his teenage years, he started pursuing that interest, while also excelling in ice hockey and performing in a band. He trained as an actor at the William Davis Center for Actors’ Study, where he eventually found proper representation and started getting roles for the screen.
Douglas’ acting debut was in 2000, when he got a credited bit role in the television movie The Inspectors 2: A Shred of Evidence. From there, he appeared in several other films, playing small roles in the likes of Final Destination 2, X2: X-Men United, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, The Chronicles of Riddick, I, Robot, Catwoman and Walking Tall. He also played guest roles in television shows such as Stargate SG-1, Cold Squad, Dark Angel, American Dreams, Taken and The L Word.
Douglas is perhaps most known for his role in the new, reimagined version of the classic science fiction series Battlestar Galactica. He appeared in the three-hour miniseries, which aired in 2003, and reprised his role in the resulting weekly series that premiered the following year. He played the role of Galen Tyrol, the chief petty officer of the Galactica, and ultimately responsible for the maintenance of the ship’s fleet. He was later promoted to a specialist, and became the highest-ranking non-commissioned officer before being demoted later in the series. He also appeared in several spin-off web-only episodes of the series.
