'Drive' Finale Sidetracked to MySpace

July 12, 2007

"Drive"Three strikes and you're out, or at least banished to the world of the Internet.  This week, for the third time, the FOX action drama Drive was pulled from the airwaves, this time for good.  After originally being canceled in April, FOX scheduled the final two episodes of the series to air on July 4.  Not satisfied with that incredibly poor timeslot, FOX pulled the plug and rescheduled the episodes for Friday, July 13.  As if being burned off on a Friday in the summer wasn't scary enough, FOX pulled the show once again, opting this time for no more promises of ever broadcasting the episodes on television.

Instead, the episodes will be streamed on FOX's MySpace page, where it has the potential to be seen by tens, maybe hundreds of people.  Starting this Monday, myspace.com/fox will play host to the last two of the six total episodes that were ever made.  Since the creators had no idea of their show's staus when making the episodes, it's probably unlikely that the result of the illegal, cross-country road race depicted in the series will be revealed.

'Drive' Takes One Final Detour

July 4, 2007

"Drive"All those dutiful Americans who planned their Fourth of July celebrations around Fox airing the final two episodes of the very, very short-lived series Drive got a rude awakening last week.  The series finale originally scheduled to be burned off tonight was pushed back to Friday, July 13.  In its place, for reasons passing understanding, Fox chose to air the Adam Sandler comedy Anger Management

A show about an illegal, cross-country road race, Drive premiered in April after months of promotion and build-up.  Viewers couldn't sit through an episode of American Idol without an ad hyping the arrival of Drive.  In addition to the promotion, it had many hallmarks of a true cult favorite show.  Co-creator Tim Minear cut his teeth as a producer on the Joss Whedon shows Angel and Firefly, as well as such underground shows as the weird Wonderfalls.  As its star, Drive cast a charming, square-jawed Midwesterner in Nathan Fillion (also from Firefly),

Fox Pulls the Plug on Drive

April 26, 2007

DriveDespite its decent reviews, Drive did not perform well in its highly competitive Monday night niche. After airing four episodes, FOX decided to cancel its road-racing themed series.

In an attempt to feature another series with the same “hype” of Prison Break and 24, FOX opted to settle with a series, which explored the underground road race scene. Having this in mind, the network gave the go signal to produce Drive in October 2006. The two-hour series premiere on April 15 garnered an average of six million viewers, losing almost a million viewers by the end. Drive’s succeeding segments performed even more disappointingly, losing nearly half a million viewers per episode. The program did not deliver the ratings that FOX wanted, leading the network to pull the plug on the show on Wednesday, April 25. In place of Drive, the network will be airing reruns of House in the Monday 8 p.m. slot.

Hot List: Drive - Nathan Fillion

April 24, 2007

Nathan Fillion, DriveNathan Fillion appears to be a typical neat and nice guy, evident in his acquisition of “good guy” roles. But this just means that he is persuasively good in acting. In fact, he is also highly capable of depicting bold and audacious character roles. Despite his years of acting experience, he remains to exude a humble impression, which makes him a very endearing celebrity to the press. Naturally appealing, he gives the viewers a taste of what he is all about on the series Drive.

Hot List: Drive - Mircea Monroe

April 24, 2007

Mircea Monroe, DriveMaxim magazine’s September 2004 cover girl, Mircea Monroe has spanned the various genres of film, whether in comedy, horror, drama or action. This vivacious actress leaves a lasting impression to her fans with her energetic yet modest presence. Exquisitely pretty, she mesmerizes her audience with her innate charisma. At present, she stars on the series Drive, which gives her the opportunity to establish her stance on television.
