CBS Upfronts: Fall Schedule Released, Five New Series to Debut

May 14, 2008

It's CBS, so it's boring.  Sure, there are a fair share of CBS shows that I will watch religiously, but for a non-procedural drama fan, the pickings are slim.  CBS is a successful network because they know its audience and cater directly towards them.  At this morning's upfront presentation, CBS unveiled its fall schedule, and the surprises were minimal.  The network introduced five new series, which we will discuss below, and they all seem to fit in well with the network as a whole.  Bubble shows How I Met Your Mother and The New Adventures of Old Christine have survived – Moonlight has not.  Below you will find the full CBS Fall schedule, plus a look at each of CBS's new series.

'CSI: NY' Returns with New Episode Tonight

April 2, 2008

CSI: NYIt's rollout week for CBS' arsenal of fresh material for many of its popular crime/police/forensic dramas and procedurals.  Criminal Minds leads the charge with its episode entitled “Damaged,” which is the show's first new episode since the conclusion of the three-month long writers' strike.  “Damaged” airs tonight at 9.

Immediately following the all-new Criminal Minds is CSI: NY's own first original post-strike offering.  Tonight's feature picks up the trail of the case the team originally faced in “Down the Rabbit Hole” back in October.  Yes, the CSI franchise is officially back!  CSI: Miami kicked things off with a wedding-set murder last week, followed by this week's back-to-back, two-part cliffhanger.

'CSI: NY' Returns with New Episodes on April 2

February 20, 2008

csi:nyAs reported previously, the CSI franchise is among the CBS programs that have been renewed for the 2008-2009 season.  Additionally, the network has also announced the return dates for the forensic dramas, beginning with CSI: Miami, which will air new episodes on March 24.  The network is reportedly planning to add eight new episodes to the 13 that were produced before the writers' strike began.

On the other hand, CSI: NY and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation are expected to be back in April.  New York will air the first of seven planned episodes on April 2, and CSI will start the next night.  CSI: NY and Miami will both end up with 21 episodes for the current season, but CSI will come up short with only 17.  The drama produced 11 episodes before the strike and is going to add six more during the next few months.
