James Lucas Scott, nicknamed Jamie (Jackson Brundage), is the son of Nathan and Haley Scott (James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Galeotti) and the godson of Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush). He is a smart, sensitive little boy and one of the few characters who sees any good in his grandfather, convicted murderer Dan Scott (Paul Johansson).
One of Jamie's first major story lines occurred after Nathan became paralyzed in an accident and withdrew emotionally from his family. Jamie remained supportive and was instrumental in bringing his father out of his depressed mood. Later, he mourned when his friend Quentin Fields (Robbie Jones) was killed in a hold-up. Another traumatic incident occurred when Jamie's nanny, Carrie (Torrey DeVitto), abducted him.
During the seventh season, Jamie turned 7 years old and watched as his father was falsely accused of a sex scandal. He also endured major losses. First, his grandfather left town. Then Jamie's grandmother, Haley's mother Lydia (Bess Armstrong), died of cancer. However, he looked forward to possibly becoming a big brother.
Although Jamie has seen more than his share of tragedies in his young life, he maintains an optimistic outlook.
