Deb Lee (Barbara Alyn Woods), formerly Deb Scott, was married to Dan Scott (Paul Johansson) and together they have a son Nathan (James Lafferty). Deb has a problem with prescription pills, which she blames on her dysfunctional relationship with her ex-husband. At one point, she poisoned Dan and set his car dealership on fire, leaving him for dead, although he did survive. Later, Deb slept with Dan's brother, Keith (Craig Sheffer). She agreed to stay with Dan to maintain his reputation when he was elected mayor of Tree Hill, but left him after she realized he shot and killed his brother.

Deb eventually dates one of Nathan's friends, Skills (Antwon Tanner). Although other people react negatively to the union at first, they eventually accept it. Deb has good intentions and tries to support her son, but her personal problems and her twisted connection to Dan hamper her efforts.
