Antwon "Skills" Taylor (Antwon Tanner) started on "One Tree Hill" as one of Lucas' (Chad Michael Murray) friends who played basketball with him at the river court. When Lucas joined the Ravens, Skills was also accepted. Skills always had a positive and encouraging word for everyone, but he was also very up front and honest about his feelings.

Throughout the show the audience doesn't learn a lot about Skills back story or home life. He is more of a supporting character, the friend who has been by Lucas' side through it all. In high school, Skills dated one of the cheerleaders although the relationship did not last long.

When Hailey (Bethany Joy Galeotti) and Nathan (James Lafferty) get married and have their son Jamie (Jackson Brundage), Skills seems to bond with him very quickly. Skills also starts dating the nanny, Deb (Barbara Alyn Woods). Deb is the mother of Nathan, ex-wife of Dan Scott (Paul Johannson), and grandmother to Jamie. Deb and Skills keep their relationship a secret for a long time because of the family and age difference. When they finally reveal their relationship, the family has a difficult time accepting it. Eventually, they do accept it and Skills and Deb have a happy and open relationship.
