Tom Scavo (Doug Savant) is Lynette Scavo's (Felicity Huffman) husband on "Desperate Housewives." Early in the series, Tom was often away on out-of-town on business. This caused a rift in his family. He was hiding a secret from his family that only his father knew about, a secret that still has not been revealed to the audience. It is speculated that the secret is related to his love-child, Kayla.
Eventually Tom went to work at the same company as his wife. There is a big mix up in the workplace and Tom ends up getting fired for sending inappropriate text messages. It was really his wife that sent the message, not him. Shortly thereafter, Lynette finds out that Tom has been seeing another woman behind her back. This woman is revealed to be the mother of his daughter.
Lynette and Tom work on their difficulties and agree that they should try to stay together. Tom decides that he would like to own a pizzeria. Even though this means he can spend more time with Lynette, the two have many problems with their marriage. This is compounded when his wife is diagnosed with cancer.
Tom then begins to go through a mid-life crisis. He buys a sports car, but this does not make him feel better. He spins into a depression and cannot find a job. Eventually he decides that he would like to go back to school and learn Chinese. Lynette is not happy about this, but decides to support him.
Memorable Quotes:
"Thank you. Thank you for coming. It means everything in the world to me. I gotta tell you, when I arrived here this afternoon, I saw all these weird chairs, I thought the evening was gonna be a total disaster. But now when I look out, I can't even see the chairs. I just see people eating, laughing and having a great time. It's absolutely perfect. And none of this would've happened without my amazing partner Lynette."
"So wait, we're not having sex?"
