In "Desperate Housewives," Orson Hodge (Kyle MacLachlan), a former dentist enters the Wisteria Lane community after meeting Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross). Having recently lost her husband, Rex Van De Kamp (Steven Culp), Bree starts dating Orson. Like Bree, Orson likes cleanliness and order, a quality which intensifies Bree's initial attraction to him. Before coming to Wisteria Lane, Orson had an affair with Monique Pollier (Katleen York). Orson's mother kills Monique and Orson has to hide the body from Mike (James Denton).

To hide his secret, Orson runs Mike over. Mike survives the accident, and later forgives Orson, but when Bree finds out about it, she makes it known to him that she cannot live with him unless he comes clean. Orson does come clean and confesses to the police and goes to jail. After serving his sentence, he returns to Bree, but is very resentful of her because he feels that she ruined his life. He can no longer practice as a dentist and does not know what to do with himself.

Orson is injured when a plane crashes into a neighborhood party and the injuries leave him paralyzed. Bree stays with him for a while to care for him, but the two eventually divorce because her affair and his restfulness of her are too much for the marriage to survive.
